Where to walk in Frankfurt
Römerberg and the New Old Town
Frankfurt's medieval centre was almost entirely destroyed in a 1944 air raid. What stands today around the Römerberg square is a careful, decades-long rebuilding — half-timbered facades reconstructed true to the originals, the newest stretch (the DomRömer Quarter) only finished in the last decade.
